The most awaited The Bengal Files trailer was launched on 16 August 2025 in Kolkata. From the maker of The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is back with another hidden truth The Bengal Files. The film is based on the most painful and forgotten chapter of history — the Direct Action Day and the Great Calcutta Killings of 1946. This is the tale of the pain that the people of Calcutta suffered in 1946, massive communal violence, deaths and forced movement of families. Vivek Agnihotri in the film wants to make the audience aware of the Bengal political violence that took place just before the Partition of 1947, like he did in The Kashmir Files.

The Bengal Files is directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Aggarwal, Pallavi Joshi , and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri. The film features Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher. The Bengal Files is the unfolding of the history of Calcutta and the untold truth of the Hindu genocide. The film shows how communal hatred and politics destroyed the lives of innocent people in 1946.
About The Bengal Files Trailer Launch Controversy
The trailer launch of The Bengal Files was scheduled on Saturday in a 5-star hotel but was suddenly stopped by Kolkata Police. The hotel cancelled the permission at the last moment and when the team tried again, some unknown people cut the electrical wires of the hotel. Director Agnihotri said that the police even seized the laptop that had the trailer. Vivek Agnihotri accused the state government Trinamool Congress and said that this is a violation of democratic rights and freedom of expression. Even after the clearance of the film by the censor board, the trailer launch was disrupted by the Kolkata Police. Despite all this, the trailer was later released online but the official trailer launch was full of chaos.
