Dharma Productions’ Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and Rishab Shetty’s most awaited Kantara Chapter 1 are set to release on the same day — October 2, 2025, in cinemas. These two very different genres — one rooted in modern romance, glamour, and fantasy, and the other in mythological action, spirituality, and deep forest traditions — are ready to clash at the box office.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari

The film stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Dharma Productions. It’s a romantic drama about Sunny, a rich, charming boy burdened with emotional baggage and family expectations, and Tulsi Kumari, a traditional girl with strong values.

The film promises glamour, urban fantasy, and lavish wedding drama. The supporting cast includes Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Akshay Oberoi, and Maniesh Paul.

Kantara Chapter 1

A Kannada-language film directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the Hombale Films banner. This mythological thriller blends folklore with spiritual reality, exploring the origin story of Panjurli Daiva — the forest deity worshipped by villagers for protection.
The story goes back in time to the moment when a human was first chosen by the Daiva, forming a sacred bond. The film serves as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, and once again stars Rishab Shetty in the lead.
“This is not just a film. It’s a tribute to the gods we worship, the legends we grew up with, and the power of faith that protects us even today.”
Rishab Shetty, Actor-Director-Writer
Kantara 2 and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari Movies Budget
The original Kantara (2022) was made on a modest budget of ₹16 crores and earned an astounding ₹450+ crores worldwide.
Now, its prequel Kantara Chapter 1 is being produced on a much larger scale — with an estimated budget of ₹125 to ₹150 crores.
On the other hand, the budget for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari has not been publicly disclosed yet, but being a typical Dharma production, it’s expected to be a high-budget romantic drama.
Could It Be a Four-Way Clash?
This might not just be a two-way clash. The film ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, is also scheduled to release on October 2.
And if rumors are to be believed, the makers of Jolly LLB 3 are also considering the same release date.
That makes it a potential four-film box office clash — and it’s going to be very interesting to see which story wins the audience’s heart.
