There’s something almost surreal about watching clouds pour over Delhi not because the weather changed on its own, but because we made it happen.
That’s right. For the first time in recent memory, Artificial Rain in Delhi will be used in the capital between July 4 and 11 to tackle one of its most persistent problems: pollution.
Why Did This Happen Now?
Every year around October and November, Delhi becomes a gas chamber. The air thickens, the visibility drops, and people start coughing before they even get to work. Schools shut down, hospitals fill up, and for a few weeks, just breathing starts to feel like a luxury.
This year, authorities decided to do something different , something a bit bold, a bit scientific, and definitely a little dramatic: they triggered rainfall.
What Actually Happened?
On a slightly humid November afternoon, specially equipped aircraft flew over Delhi’s skies, targeting rain-ready clouds. Within hours, light showers touched down across parts of the city enough to settle the dust and clear the air, at least for a short while.
And yes, it worked. AQI levels dropped, people shared “rain selfies,” and for a moment, it felt like a breath of fresh air literally.
